Today's bento features a breakfast tier and a lunch tier. I used to think cottage cheese was one of the most unappetizing foods known to mankind, but then I discovered that there are good brands and bad brands. I have found that the best tasting cottage cheese by far is made by Friendship -- you don't want the whipped kind. Just the normal one that is in a pink, blue, and white container. So good with a little fruit or jam!
As for the little snowman . . . I discovered him in a package of cherry tomatoes. I added sesame seed eyes and a nori grin, but everything else is all nature. :)
The hubs and I are experimenting with different types of brown rice. The one today is Lundberg Farms' long grain brown rice. It cooks up pretty nicely and is not as sticky as the Kagayaki short grain that I use for sushi and onigiri. I just found Lotus Foods' jasmine brown rice at Whole Foods yesterday, which I am excited about trying as the all-knowing Ultimate Rice Cooker Cookbook says that it is the best tasting brown rice of them all.
Just learned from the hubs that he does not like the tofu. A bit of a sour taste that is strange.
