At last . . . a half-moon bento

[half moon bento - one tier with shrimp pad thai; second tier with fruit, chocolate-covered soy nuts, and mini-fig newtons]

Right: shrimp pad thai garnished with roasted peanuts and scallions
Left: blueberries, golden kiwi butterflies, chocolate-covered soy nuts, mini-strawberry fig newtons

[photo of half-moon bento][new kinchaku]Quickie bento post. Work is still interfering with kitchen time, but what can I do? =P

Today's bento was made possible by Neisha, which is one of our favorite Thai restaurants. Wegmans and Trader Joe's both carry frozen meals by Neisha. The fried rice apparently isn't anything to write home about (although good in a pinch), but the shrimp pad thai is definitely yummy, especially with some fresh scallions, peanuts, a squeeze of lime and some hot chili sauce to kick things up a notch.

Also, as some of you regular readers may have deduced, this is one of my new bento boxes. I've been searching for a half-moon bento for a long time now -- this particular one has been floating around eBay, but at the whopping price of $29.99 plus a heckuva a lot for shipping. I managed to snatch this one from eBay seller tokyosamurai for a mere $12.50 plus shipping! What a steal. =) I also got this cutie pie kinchaku for $7 plus shipping from the same seller. Wee hoo!

Oh, and you may have noticed that some recent bento have not been gluten-free. I will note entirely gluten-free bento (of which there will be many) with a tag. Otherwise, you'll be seeing various non-GF foods popping up here and there.
